These comprehensive suites of inspection tools are designed to meet or exceed every quality specification mandated by OEMs for flow-through substrates and diesel particulate filters. The 88SERIES is built for light-duty lines and the 1520SERIES for heavy-duty lines. Click any tab below to learn more about the modules. The modules can be arranged in any configuration to best fit your production needs.

INFEED CAPABILITIES The CATPRO infeed feeds singulated, well-orientated parts into the CATPRO. Available in 2- or 3-lane configurations. ![]() OUTFEED CAPABILITIES The CATPRO outfeed module transports parts to packaging and reintroduction locations. This module is available in 2- and 3-lane configurations and accomodates a variety of part handling situations. ![]() VISION PLUG for the detection of optical leaks in diesel particulate filters and plugged channels in flow-through catalysts
WHAT IT DOES DPF Inspections The vision plug module finds missing plugs (light leak) in DPFs, which can allow particulate to flow through the part, resulting in premature filter failure and non-compliance with emissions standards. Flow-Through Catalyst Inspections The vision plug module finds obstructed channels in flow-through substrates which can trap exhaust flow, creating excess heat within the part, causing the part to fail. LASER SIDE for the detection of edge chips and side damage in diesel particulate filters and flow-through catalysts ![]() WHAT IT DOES DPF and Flow-Through Substrate Inspections The laser side module detects edge chips and side chips and gouges on a DPF or Flow-Through Substrate's side edge. Left unchecked, damage to a part's side can cause coating problems, matting problems during the canning process, and can expose the part to excessive concentrated heat, resulting in possible substrate failure. This module can also verify a part's measurements. VISION SIDE for the detection of edge chips and side damage in diesel particulate filters and flow-through catalysts ![]() WHAT IT DOES DPF and Flow-Through Substrate Inspections Using sophisticated camera technology, the vision side module finds edge chips and cracks, gouges, and chips on the sides of DPFs and flow-through substrates. If a large enough area is damaged, side defects can cause problems during canning and coating, and can expose the substrate to excessive concentrated heat, resulting in premature failure. This module can also verify a part's measurements and locate, read, and verify a part's side barcodes and labels. ULTRASOUND for the detection internal defects in diesel particulate filters and flow-through catalysts
WHAT IT DOES DPF and Flow-Through Substrate Inspections The ultrasound module finds internal defects such as cracks and voids in DPFs and flow-through catalysts. These types of defects are not detectable when inspecting a substrate manually. An internal defect can form in any phase of manufacturing (extruding, coating, canning or shipping) and ultimately will result in leakage and premature failure in DPFs or premature failure of flow-through substrates. LASER FACE for the detection of edge chips and face damage in diesel particulate filters and flow-through catalysts ![]() WHAT IT DOES DPF and Flow-Through Substrate Inspections The laser face module detects face chips and gouges and edge chips on a DPF or flow-through substrate's face surfaces. Face damage on a part can indicate further damage within the substrate and can cause the part to fail during the coating or canning processes. Certain types of face damage may remove needed DPF plugs, creating a free-flowing condition, causing the substrate to fail. VISION FACE for the detection of extra plugs and missing plugs in diesel particulate filters and external channel damage and face damage in DPFs and flow-through catalysts
WHAT IT DOES DPF Inspections The vision face module finds extra plugs and missing plugs, external damage to channels, and face damage in diesel particulate filters. Extra plugs can cause excessive loading of coating material during the catalyst coating process and can block channels, which trap exhaust flow and cause premature filter failure. Missing plugs allow particulate to flow through the filter, which can cause leakage and filer failure, and non-compliance with emission standards. DPF and Flow-Through Substrate Inspections The vision face module also finds damaged external channels, and face chips, gouges, and cracks on both DPFs and flow-through substrates. Damaged channels may cause blockage of the coating material, resulting in undercoating which leads to flow restriction and part failure. Face chips, gouges, or cracks can remove needed DPF plugs, creating a free-flowing condition, causing the filter to fail. Verifications In addition to the defect detection described above, the vision face module can also verify part measurements and locate, read, and verify face codes and labels. MARK AND LABEL VERIFICATION for verifying and reading face codes, barcodes, and other labels on diesel particulate filters and flow-through catalysts ![]() WHAT IT DOES Mark and Label Verifications The mark and verification center locates, reads, and verifies face codes, face labels, side barcodes, and side labels applied to DPFs and flow-through substrates. In addition, this module may be integrated with select marking and labeling technology to allow for simpler part setup and line control. Software integration for recipe-driven configuration is available with select marking products. |
